Item description:

A very fine and extremely rare antique Georgian circa 1750 bird of paradise gold brooch from the mid 18th century. The bird feathers are set throughout with alternating rose cut / old mine cut diamonds of various sizes and opaque and translucent enamels of red, green and blue colors. The eye of the bird is set with a nice table cut natural ruby of vivid pinkish red color. Total estimated diamond weight is probably around 1.00 carat. All diamonds have a very lively and sparkling H-I white color and average SI1 clarity. Two tiny diamonds are deficient but can easily be replaced. The back of the brooch shows some old repair to its pin. The brooch measures 53mm accross wings and is 22mm tall. It is crafted in what appears to be 15 karat yellow gold with a gross weight of 8.6 grams. Absolutely scarce antique jewelry collector piece and one of the rare Georgian era diamonds and enamel brooches and jewels.
