Item description:

See scan – absolutely perfect condition. This is an important 1925 Art Deco brooch pin of a green jade jadeite Buddha / Bouddha sculpture set in 18 karat white gold and paved with a total of 88 diamonds most of a total weight of about 1-1.2 carats. The Buddha sculpture shows the figure of the god playing a flute. The broche has a net weight of 7 grams of 18 karat gold and is about 60 mm tall. The broche is signed / marked at back ‘GM’ most likely for Georges Mauboussin who was one of the most important French Jewelry artists through the Art Deco period together with Lalique, Lacloche, etc. It is also hallmarked with 18K mark, as well as what appears to be an ox or another animal's head mark applied to pin. Absolutely scarce Art Decoratif / Hindu and Buddhism fashion collector piece and one of the rare and very important Art Deco brooches / pieces of antique jewelry. An almost identical, but even with lesser detail brooch by Lacloche Freres was auctioned at the Etude Tajan in their Dec. 2001 Jewelry sale.
